Day and Guest tickets available on the bank
The Wendover Arm extends down from the turning circle at little Tring to
the junction of the main canal at Bulbourne. Access can be gained from
either the pumping station end (this involves some walking and rough
terrain) or at little Tring Gamnel bridge (near Heygates Flour mill).
This canal takes on the character of a small river and although shallow
contains a really good head of quality fish. Roach often fall to seed
baits and of course bread punch. Good sport is provided at most times of
the day. Roach and perch to well over 1lb and bream going to 4-5lbs are
available and all tend to move up and down the arm in shoals. Chub have
also recently taken up residence and are thriving, as well as some large
carp, although these provide quite a challenge to land in this small
water! Match weights in excess of 10lbs are often recorded along the
length. Boat traffic is at present light but when the extension is opened
will become heavier.
Directions
From the A41 roundabout go towards Tring town centre, past Tesco. At the
Robin Hood roundabout turn right, follow this road to the next roundabout
and go straight ahead. Park just before the canal bridge but not too near
to the bridge please. You may fish both sides of the canal. |
